The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, already a pinnacle of automotive excellence, has undergone a remarkable transformation with the introduction of the ‘Grand Prix’ edition. Crafted by Bugatti’s Sur Mesure bespoke department, this unique creation, unveiled in late 2021, elevates the Chiron Pur Sport to unprecedented levels of individuality and historical homage.
Cloaked in Blanc (white), the custom design is accentuated by an eye-catching EB Bugatti logo pattern adorning the fenders, elegantly presented in Grand Prix Red. This distinctive motif commences at the car’s headlights, gradually merging into a solid stripe that gracefully extends along the doors and replicates itself on the rear of the vehicle.
A significant historical nod is embodied in the number ’32,’ prominently displayed on both sides of the car’s doors. This numerical reference pays homage to the Bugatti Type 51, adorned with the same digits during the 1931 French Grand Prix. In that historic race, racing driver Louis Chiron, whose name would later inspire the Veyron’s successor, secured victory alongside co-driver Achille Varzi, leading the race for over eight hours. Chiron’s illustrious racing career includes a remarkable achievement as the oldest driver to finish a Formula 1 race, securing a commendable 6th place at the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix.
Amid the myriad details that make this car extraordinary, the red-tinted carbon fiber detailing stands out. Specifically, the engine cover and surrounds showcase a harmonious interplay of red-tinted carbon fiber with the traditional black carbon. The iconic EB Bugatti logos and legends like ‘Chiron,’ ‘W16,’ and ‘1500’ are boldly highlighted in red against a contrasting black background.
On the inside, the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport ‘Grand Prix’ sports a leather-clad cabin that mirrors the exterior aesthetics, featuring black upholstery accented with striking red elements. Bugatti emphasizes that this Grand Prix-themed Pur Sport is a rare breed, with only two examples in existence. The first, unveiled earlier in the year, showcased a sleek two-tone finish of Matte Black Carbon over Matte Jet Grey, while the second played a pivotal role in inaugurating the Sur Mesure program in 2021.
Designed for high-speed cornering prowess, the Pur Sport is not merely a visual spectacle but a performance marvel. Weighing 110 pounds less than its conventional Chiron counterpart, this model traces its lineage back to Bugatti’s early hillclimb racers. Despite its racing pedigree, Bugatti anticipates that this unique Chiron Pur Sport ‘Grand Prix’ will lead a more leisurely existence, free from the rigorous demands of competitive racing.
