Toyota Motor Philippines has opened qualifiers for the TGR Philippines Esports GT Championship, marking the start of its 2026 esports season right after Race Weekend 3 of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup concluded on August 15.
TMP’s premier sim racing tournament aims to bring motorsports to a wider audience and give aspiring racers a way to break into competitive racing through virtual platforms. Several past winners of the competition have gone on to race in the TGR Philippine Cup, demonstrating that skills developed in sim racing can translate to actual track competition.
Qualifiers run from August 17 to September 13. Participants without their own PlayStation console can compete on-site at several GR performance dealerships, including Toyota Makati, Toyota Alabang, Toyota Silang in Cavite, Toyota San Fernando in Pampanga, Toyota Calamba in Laguna, Toyota Cebu City, Toyota Otis, Toyota Commonwealth, Toyota Manila Bay, Toyota Global City, and Toyota Santa Rosa.
Those who own a PlayStation 4 or 5, a copy of Gran Turismo 7, an active PSN account, and a PS Plus subscription can qualify online instead. Both onsite and online participants need to register through the link to lock in their qualifier schedule.
This year’s tournament introduces a new class structure. In previous editions, all participants competed together in a single class to determine the top three winners who would represent the Philippines in the regional finals. Now, racers aged 18 and below can register under the newly added Junior Class, while those 19 and above compete in the Sporting Class, a change meant to draw in more young drivers.
Sporting Class and Junior Class competitors who place in the top 10 fastest of their respective divisions will advance to the National Finals, where the three delegates for the regional finals will be decided. Two of those slots go to the champions of each class, and the third goes to whichever runner-up between the two classes posts the higher point total after the final round of the National Finals.
SMX Convention Center in Pasay City will host the National Finals on September 27. Winners of the Sporting Class and Junior Class will each take home a cash prize of PHP 100,000 in addition to representing the Philippines at the regional finals, while runners-up from both classes will receive PHP 75,000 each. Other National Finalists will also receive cash prizes and official Gazoo Racing merchandise.
