Elevated bike lane and walkway on EDSA still being considered by MMDA

Back in 2019, a proposal to build an elevated bike lane and walkway on EDSA was put forward, it was even given the green light by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) in 2020.

Little has been heard about the proposal though, it seems it had become a casualty of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Well, according to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Romando Artes, the MMDA is still deliberating on the possibility of finally implementing the project. The agency views it as another way to help alleviate the traffic on EDSA.

Of course, the complexity and ambitiousness of the project were not lost on the MMDA Chairman, At ang huli po, ito po ang aming proposal, medyo ambitious, dahil it will entail large expenditures on the part of the government,” said Chairman Artes.

The fact that this made its way to a presentation by Chairman Artes directly to President Rodrigo Duterte, means that it’s being considered for possible implementation in the near future.
