The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a warning to Uber and Grab citing unreasonable surges in their rates, especially during the holiday season.
In a press release posted on their Facebook page, the LTFRB warns Uber and Grab “not to take advantage of the holiday season as a reason to unreasonably surge their respective rates.” The agency said that they have received complaints where the surge ranges from Php2,000 to Php28,000.
The LTFRB also added that they have not been consulted on Uber’s “Upfront fares based on predictions,” and have the right to suspend or cancel accreditation if the unreasonable surges persist.
The LTFRB advises the public to report any violation through their 24/7 hotline at 1342 or SMS/Viber at 0917-550-1342 or 0998-550-1342. Passengers may also email pictures of screenshots of said incidents at [email protected]
