The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has always been the halo of the famed American sportscar marquee, and the latest model is no slouch either as it debuts as a new monster with the most powerful engine ever put in a production Corvette.
2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Under the hood of the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is a 5.5-liter turbocharged V8 that makes 1,064 HP and 1,122 Nm of torque. While the engine is closely related to the lower-spec Z06 the ZR1’s LT7 has a newly machined block, forged pistons, new heads, and a different crankshaft.
All this power also means more tolerances need to be built to the power unit, as such the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission has been beefed up and recalibrated. The turbochargers are also reworked with a different material called MAR which is supposedly stronger than inconel.
Surprisingly the suspension components are similar to the other Corvettes, but the track prowess of the ZR1 will come from the added massive downforce kit, stiffer springs, and stickier tires.
The Chevrolet Corvette has always been the trying-hard outsider in the world of performance supercars and has drawn much love for its simplicity and capabilities. The latest ZR1 takes that recipe to a whole new level, and it could probably shame many supercars out there today.
