One of the most common vehicles sold in the Philippines is the Toyota Alphard, it’s a symbol of new-world and old-world luxury with space and comfort. The new version has finally been revealed and here are the specs.
2024 Toyota Alphard
First thing first, the looks of the new Alphard are still somewhat similar to the outgoing model. The new one receives a sleeker and more modern look courtesy of the ‘Forceful x IMPACT LUXURY’ design language which is supposed to mimic a fighting bull in full charge.
The Alphard and the Vellfire use a minivan-oriented TNGA GA-K platform which showcases straight rockers and a V-shaped brace in the rear-lower part of the vehicle to improve rigidity by 50%. Upfront is a MacPherson strut suspension with an updated double-wishbone rear suspension and shock absorbers that adjust damping force based on the frequency of vibrations transmitted from the road surface.
Second-row occupants will also have reduced vibrations because the brand utilized rubber bushings in the attachment portions of the cushion and memory foam in the backrests and armrests. One of the key highlights of the all-new Alphard is the increased space in the passenger area, which enabled the brand to make the Super-Long Overhead Console in the ceiling of the vehicle that allows passengers to open windows and adjust lighting no matter where they are seated.
There is also what is called the ‘Universal Steps’ which is basically an automated step to help passengers enter and exit the vehicle. Both the second and third-row windows have pull-down sunshades.
It will come in two variants called the Z and Executive Lounge. The first is powered by a 2.5-liter gasoline engine that makes 179 PS and a new Toyota Hybrid System with a 2.5-liter engine. The conventional powertrain uses a Super Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT-i), while the hybrid model has an electric CVT.
While Japan is the first market to get the all-new Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, we can expect it to reach other parts of the world soon, and given its popularity in the Philippines we could get it soon.
