The Tiggo 5X Pro finally completes the Tiggo line’s transition to ‘Pro’ status, following the tire tracks of its successful siblings, the Tiggo 2 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, and Tiggo 8 Pro.
The new Tiggo 5X Pro presents a head-turning facade on the road with its big, bold Diamond Galaxy grille, distinctive LED headlights with follow-me-home function, and dual-row LED daytime running lights housed within a sporty black-and-chrome housing.
More upmarket aesthetic and functional touches include power-folding side mirrors with turn signals, chrome trim on the windows, a rear spoiler with high-mounted brake light, a new rear bumper with sporty chrome and silver trim on the diffuser, and integrated load-bearing roof rails.
Large 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels with meaty 215/55R18 tires endow the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid with sporty good looks and responsive handling.
The new Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid’s spacious and well-crafted cabin reflects the same upscale style and premium build quality and features expressed by the exterior. There are sustainably produced faux leather seats with bucket-type front seats, sporty red accents, multi-color ambient lighting, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way adjustable front passenger seat, intelligent remote key, tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, push-button engine start, auto start/stop, multi-function steering wheel buttons, power sunroof, remote tailgate unlock, one-touch power windows with anti-pinch protection, and an N95 cabin filter.
It has the biggest-in-class 10.25-inch touchscreen 6-speaker infotainment system that boasts Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and USB connectivity. It also has a fully digital 7-inch instrument cluster, a 360-degree around-view monitor, reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, electronic cruise control with a speed limiter, an electronic parking brake, and wireless mobile phone charging.
The new Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid is powered by a new-generation 1.5-liter turbocharged DOHC VVT 16-valve Euro 6-compliant 4-cylinder gasoline engine coupled with an all-new continuously variable transmission (CVT). The engine works with a 48-volt belt-starter generator (BSG) mild-hybrid motor to develop 154 hp and 230 Newton meters of torque.
The mild hybrid technology allows the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid to have various EV functions like Auto Start & Stop, which shuts off the engine when engine power is not needed such as during stoplights to save fuel, Energy Recovery, wherein the mild hybrid system regenerates energy during coasting or braking and the energy generated will then be converted and stored as electrical energy in the batteries. Other mild hybrid benefits include fuel efficiency and lower emissions (the 48V technology boosts the engine giving the engine-less hard work in acceleration).
Suspension is via McPherson struts in front and an independent multi-link setup in the rear. Strong braking power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes (ventilated at the front) with ABS and Brake Assist.
The Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid’s suite of safety and security features include 6 SRS airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Assist Control, Hill Descent Control, traction control, tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX seat anchor, an electronic anti-theft system with engine immobilizer, and 3-point dual-pretensioner seatbelts for all five occupants.
New Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid
Sharing the stage at the unveiling of the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid is the recently announced Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid. Chery’s first mild-hybrid model in the Philippines, the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid boasts its mild hybrid technology, which features a 48-volt BSG system mated to a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a 9-speed CVT. The Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid’s power is rated at 156 horsepower with 230 Nm of torque.
Like the new Tiggo 5X Pro, the Tiggo 7 Pro sports a stylish Diamond Galaxy grille, upmarket styling, and a spacious and luxurious cabin chockfull of smart comfort and convenience features.
The Tiggo 7 Pro also boasts multi-color ambient lighting, 6 SRS airbags, panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, wireless mobile charging, 360-degree around view monitor, and 12.3” LCD instrument cluster.

The new Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid has a retail price of P1,140,000. There is also a non-hybrid variant—the Tiggo 5X Pro Comfort, powered by a normally aspirated 1.5-liter engine with CVT—that starts the Tiggo 5X Pro line with a price tag of P940,000. You may also get as much as 90,000 savings when you reserve now at any Chery dealerships.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid, meanwhile, is priced at P1,350,000 (the non-hybrid Tiggo 7 Pro is at P1,250,000).
