Confirmed! CAVITEX Toll Free for 30 days starting July 1, 2024

The proposal for a toll-free CAVITEX was floated when the C5 Link Sucat Interchange opened. At that time, PBBM mentioned that the Philippine Reclamation Authority or PRA, operator of the Manila-Cavite Expressway system, proposed a period of 30 days within which to suspend the collection of toll fees in the expressway network. The proposal has been approved, and toll fees will be lifted come July.

The confirmation and subsequent declaration of the 30-day toll holiday for all CAVITEX exits were issued by Cavite Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) president and general manager Raul L. Ignacio after they received the decision of the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB). It’s been made official after consultations with their joint venture partner, the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA).

“We welcome TRBā€™s policy and operational decision guided by the general directive of the President ā€“ which was arrived at after considering all the implementation details and systems preparation that must be in place. We commend TRB for the due deliberation that had taken place as part of our Regulatorā€™s decision-making process,” Ignacio pointed out.

For everyone’s information, the tollway segments that will enjoy toll-free journeys for all vehicle classes are expressway exits are the following:

  • Kawit
  • Paranaque
  • C5 Link segment Merville and Taguig exits
  • (Segment 2) Sucat Interchange

All vehicle classes are included in the toll holiday.

“We will fully implement a 30-day toll holiday in all exits of the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) for all vehicle classes, supporting the decision of the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB). This will help our motorists with the rising cost of fuel and inflation,” said Ignacio.

This suspension of toll collections covering all the exits will result in foregone toll revenues amounting to hundreds of millions of pesos. Transport experts said that, as industry logic dictates, expressway firms need toll receipts to pay lenders, recoup huge investments, assure road safety at all times, and pay operational and administrative personnel.

Despite these effects, Ignacio added, “We support the Presidentā€™s decision and that of the TRB, so our motorists can enjoy the seamless expressway journeys brought about by modern tollway structures and systems.”

So there we have it, ladies and gentlemen. July looks to be a good month to plan a South road trip via CAVITEX, yes?
