Last week we saw an increase in fuel prices for both gasoline and diesel. This week brings the same bad news because both will have another price hike starting tomorrow, April 16. If the more-than-1-peso increase last week for both fuel types wasn’t bad enough, brace yourselves because more will be added per liter tomorrow, with gas going up by PHP 0.40 and diesel by PHP 0.95.
Fuel prices continue to soar with 2nd consecutive week of price hike
It’s been a pretty rough run for fuel prices in the past couple of weeks. We’ve seen splits in price adjustments with one going up and the other going down, but tomorrow marks the second week of price hikes for both gas and diesel. Again, expect gasoline to be more expensive by PHP 0.40 per liter and diesel by PHP 0.95 tomorrow.
As always, the first update to pump prices will be applied at 6:00 AM, and the brands that will do so include Shell, Caltex, Petron, Unioil, Seaoil, and Petro Gazz, among others. Per its usual practice, Cleanfuel gives more time for its patrons to top-up with last week’s prices given that they will be implementing the increase at their stations later at 4:01 PM.
With traffic not letting up and with the heat likewise soaring to near-unbearable temperatures, everyone just keeps on consuming more fuel. At the rate things are going, we can expect fuel prices to continue going up in the next few weeks, but of course, we hope that we all get a reprieve from all the price hikes. Maybe hybrids will become the best option in these “trying times”; just as information, the entry-level Corolla Cross is priced very competitively, so you may want to look into that one.
There are also a couple of fuel-saving tips that we’ve compiled for you that we believe will help you save more fuel as you putter along. Every drop counts, that’s for sure.
