Fuel Price Update, February 4, 2025 – Gas up PHP 0.70, diesel down by a big PHP 1.15 per liter
Last week’s fuel prices went down. This week brings both good and bad news, though, depending on what fuel type you use. As of today and even as we speak, gasoline gets a price hike of PHP 0.70USD 0.01INR 1EUR 0.01CNY 0.09, while diesel, on the other hand, gets a big decrease following a rather significant PHP 1.15USD 0.02INR 2EUR 0.02CNY 0.14 rollback. We can’t have it all after all, right?
Fuel prices get a split in adjustments this week

Yes, folks, we can’t have it all. After what was really good news last week, a break in the fuel price hike streak, today brings a mix of a rollback and hike for both gasoline and diesel products. The former gets the brunt of it with an added PHP 0.70USD 0.01INR 1EUR 0.01CNY 0.09 per liter while diesel users can continue smiling with an added PHP 1.15USD 0.02INR 2EUR 0.02CNY 0.14 price reduction beginning today.

As of publishing, all fuel players in the Philippines will have already updated the prices at their pumps. The first among them have done so as early as 6:00 AM and this includes stations of Caltex, Petron, Shell, Seaoil, Jetti, and Unioil among others. Cleanfuel customers can already expect the new fuel prices to be reflected at the pumps; these have been updated a little later at 8:01 AM. Regardless, those topping up today will already be paying more or less by the time they read this.

It cannot be denied that automotive manufacturers in the Philippines have become rather aggressive in bringing in vehicles that run on alternative means of power. Whether they are pure battery electric vehicles or hybrids, the latter being more common, the constant flux in fuel prices does make their potential more attractive. In a recent study about hybrids and EV concerns that was conducted by Ford, it was found that about 70% of Filipinos do think that owning electrified vehicles is practical solution. And we cannot agree more while at the same time wonder why many still seem apprehensive about it.
If there’s any good time to start reading on them, now is as good a time as it gets. With no way of knowing what prices of gas and diesel are in store for us on a weekly basis, getting on the electrified bandwagon is something that does deserve a good mulling over from everyone.
