More bad news for those hoping for a reduction in fuel prices this week. It simply won’t be so because tomorrow, February 6, yet another hike is poised to happen with gasoline prices set to go up by PHP 0.75 per liter and diesel by PHP 1.50. This marks the 5th consecutive week of price increases for fuel products and at the rate things are going, it doesn’t seem like it will stop any time soon.
Fuel prices get nothing but increases in the past 5 weeks
The new year hasn’t been as kind as we wanted it to be as far as fuel prices go. Since the start of 2024 – and in the entire month of January – prices of fuel products continued to go up with no halt in sight. That much is evident as tomorrow, the price hikes continue, adding PHPÂ per liter for gasoline and PHPÂ for diesel.
The stroke of midnight will see Caltex as the first to update pump prices, with a good number of players including Seaoil, Petro Gazz, Petron, Shell, and Unioil increasing prices a little later at 6:00 in the morning. Those who may want to enjoy last week’s (relatively) lower prices for both diesel and gasoline may want to gas up at Cleanfuel stations. As its common practice, it adjusts prices latest at 4:01 PM.
In case you haven’t thought about it, saving on fuel has again become very important, and we’ve come up with some tips to help you do just that. No amount of wishful thinking can magically help the cause of the motoring public in hoping – wanting – a further reduction in fuel prices, but at least some things are in our control to save as much fuel as we can. At least until the next rollback happens.
