The third full week of January brings us bad news, yet again. The worst as it pertains to fuel prices, actually. Tomorrow, January 21, 2025, a big-time hike is scheduled to happen, and with it, the prices of both gasoline and diesel are set to go up. Gas will be more expensive by PHP 1.65USD 0.03INR 2EUR 0.03CNY 0.20 and diesel by a whopping and ridiculous PHP 2.70USD 0.05INR 4EUR 0.04CNY 0.33 per liter. We can’t seem to catch a break, can we?
Fuel prices up yet again for the 3rd week in a row
Yes, the new year has not been kind, indeed. Seeing the 3rd straight week of fuel price increases, January is proving to be quite a saddening month as prices of gas and diesel go. A hike streak is always the last of what anyone would ask for, but as we have it, the biggest yet is set to be implemented tomorrow. Again, expect gas prices to go up by PHP 1.65USD 0.03INR 2EUR 0.03CNY 0.20, and diesel by PHP 2.70USD 0.05INR 4EUR 0.04CNY 0.33.
As always, majority of brands will be updating the prices of their pumps as early as 6:00 AM, and this list of players includes Petron, Caltex, Shell, Seaoil, and Unioil among many others. Seaoil, though, per its usual practice, changes its prices to reflect the current week’s adjustments later; expect higher figures to be implemented at 4:01 PM. If you’re a Seoil user, that gives you a few more hours to enjoy last week’s lower prices.
If anything, considering hybrids and alternative sources of energy to power vehicles might already be a good idea. What with technologies like Honda’s e:HEV, or how hybrids like the Toyota Corolla Cross or a pure battery EV like the MG4 can perform as daily-driven machines, greener options might just be the way to go.
Fuel prices will remain unpredictable, as we all already know, and if we look at what’s in the long run, maybe batteries and hybrids won’t be so bad if all these increases keep carrying on.
