Happy new year to all! With that, let us all collectively frown up this week’s fuel price update. Yes, everyone, both gasoline and diesel products are slated to go up tomorrow, and both by quite significant amounts, too. The former will go up by PHP 1.00USD 0.02INR 1EUR 0.02CNY 0.12 and the latter by a more expensive PHP 1.40USD 0.02INR 2EUR 0.02CNY 0.17 per liter. The new year isn’t off to a good start, it seems.
Higher fuel prices in the first full week of January 2025
Yes, ladies and gentlemen. As we enter the first full week of the year 2025, those of us who use either gasoline or diesel will not be greeted by good news. Fuel prices are scheduled to become more expensive tomorrow, and tomorrow’s price update applies the per-liter price of both fuel products. As mentioned, gas goes up by PHP 1.00USD 0.02INR 1EUR 0.02CNY 0.12 and diesel by PHP 1.40USD 0.02INR 2EUR 0.02CNY 0.17.
Depending on the brand (and its stations), there will be different times for the fuel price updates. The first will include the likes of Caltex, Shell, Petron, Seaoil, and Unioil, among others. They will be updating pump prices as the clock hits 6:00 AM. On the other hand, Cleanfuel will update later in the day, more specifically at 4:01 PM to allow its customers to enjoy last week’s lower prices.
If you might have missed it, last year saw an update to EVIDA that made electric vehicles and hybrids drop their prices. At the rate the fuel price increases keep coming, perhaps now is the best time to open our eyes and minds to the possibility that going the greener route could be the better option.
This notwithstanding, whatever fuel you use, we’ll all have to greet this week with a cringe, a shrug, and a little bit of a sad wallet. But hey, let’s admit it: the increase could’ve been worse.
