The trend of fuel prices seems to be that of a seesaw; going down for a week only to go up the next. That’s exactly what we have coming up tomorrow, September 3, 2024, because both gasoline and diesel are set for a hike. Last week’s rollback was pretty significant, but this week we’ll see higher pump prices with the former going up by PHP 0.50 and the latter by PHP 0.30 per liter.
Get ready for a fuel price hike tomorrow
While it should come as no surprise, tomorrow’s scheduled fuel price hike still comes as a bit of unwelcome news. We always say never to get our hopes up for a rollback streak – and that’s just being realistic and not pessimistic – but the Philippines can’t seem to get a good break from the rising prices of fuel products. That said, expect gas to be more expensive by PHP 0.50 and diesel by PHP 0.30 tomorrow.
6:00 AM will see most brands up their fuel prices; this includes the stations of Unioil, Seaoil, Petron, Shell, and Caltex. However, those who remain patrons of Seaoil will have until 4:00 PM to get their gas and diesel at last week’s lower prices because their pumps will be updated to reflect the new prices at 4:01 PM. Somehow, we hope that they all adapt to this practice, but this may very well be wishful thinking. At least it’s not as early as 12 midnight, right?
The increase in gas and diesel fuel prices may not be that high, and it doesn’t nullify last week’s rollback. But then again, an increase is an increase, regardless, and we simply have to make the best out of our vehicle use and fuel consumption practices until we get another good break from price hikes. It could be worse, so we can take this as a small win.
