GAC PH previews two new MPVs the M8 and M6 Pro, reveal expansion plans for 2024

GAC PH had a very strong year, the brand under the Astara stewardship pushed to new heights and has established itself as not just another China brand.

2023 was a year where the brand opened 20 nationwide dealerships and increased brand presence on the roads. Keen to keep up the momentum, GAC announced their plans for 2024.

GAC 2024 Plans and vehicle previews

One of the key things the brand announced during last night’s Thanksgiving dinner was that they will be launching 6 new models this 2024, 2 of which were previewed last night (we’ll get to those later). In terms of reach, they are also planning to expand to a total of 35 nationwide dealerships before 2024 ends.

Other new initiatives will include a rejuvenated and refocused after-sales program, new programs to reach and convince customers, and a program dubbed “The Get Going Campaign” which the brand says is a tie-up with the sporting world.

GAC M8

The most exciting news however was the preview of the 2 new models, namely the M8 and the M6 Pro. Starting with the M8, this was a vehicle already confirmed by the automaker a few months ago. What was confirmed to us last night was what we could expect from the M8 and a sort of up-close and personal look.

In terms of design, the M8 takes opulence seriously, with a massive chrome grille that is flanked by stylish and eye-catching LED headlights. Inside we’re told that the M8 will come with power-adjustable seats for the driver and passenger, 2-tray tables, heated and ventilated 2nd row seats with massage functions, panoramic sunroof, and many more.

Powering the M8 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine making a sizeable 248 Ps and 400 Nm of torque, it is then paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It will come with a boatload of standard features and safety gizmos as well including ADAS.

Indicative pricing for the M8 is as follows:

M8 GL – PHP 3M-3.1M
M8 GX Master – PHP 4M-4.1M

GAC M6 Pro

A people mover aimed towards families is always a sales winner, and as such the automaker has updated the lineup with the M6 Pro aiming squarely at the Toyota Innova, Geely Okavango, and Changan X7 Plus. It comes with an updated front fascia but a largely unchanged side profile and rear design, which are still very reminiscent of the previous GN6.

It does however receive a few new updates to the interior, including a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch digital cluster, captain seats with manual adjustments for the second row, and ADAS safety capabilities. The powertrain of the M6 Pro is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine pumping out 174 Ps and 270 Nm of torque, the transmission is a 7-speed wet dual-clutch style.

Indicative pricing for the M6 Pro is as follows:

M6 Pro GS – PHP 1.2M-1.3M
M6 Pro GL – PHP 1.5-1.6M
Reservations for both vehicles begin today at GAC dealerships nationwide.
