Just a little over a year ago, the GAC EMKOO was launched during the Manila International Auto Show, and it was met with stunned looks as people gazed at its ultra-futuristic design.
We had the pleasure of being able to drive it since then and were equally impressed by the performance as well as the looks. A year later and the brand is already looking to upgrade the vehicle.
GAC EMKOO Hybrid launch MIAS
In a recent statement made by local distributor Astara, they were excited to announce that: “The Emkoo Hybrid is a compact SUV that combines cutting-edge technology that guarantees fuel efficiency and enhanced performance. The Emkoo Hybrid keeps the Emkoo’s future-forward design, characterized by its head-turning front fascia and sharp body angles. Equipped with a state-of-the-art hybrid engine system, it promises both eco-friendly driving and impressive power on the road.”
Looking at the EMKOO hybrid from other markets namely China, it uses a hybrid system very similar to Toyota. This isn’t a surprise considering the brand has a working partnership in China, the total system output for the EMKOO hybrid in China is around 238 PS which is a whopping amount compared to the non-hybrid version.
When it comes to pricing, we can assume that it will cost a little more than the GAC EMKOO non-hybrid, but still be competitive compared to other crossovers in its segment. Everything is speculation until the official reveal at this years MIAS, so if you’re looking at the EMKOO already, it might be prudent to wait till then to make a final decision.
