At the 2026 Manila International Auto Show, GAC Philippines showcased two new vehicles which will go on sale this year.

First up is the GAC GS8 HEV. GAC’s flagship SUV, the GS8, has been available on the Philippine market for a few years, and it’s nothing new to most consumers. However, it’s only now that GAC Philippines has begun offering the SUV with a hybrid powertrain.

In terms of styling, it looks very much the same as before. The only tell-tale sign that it’s a hybrid is the blue elements on the GAC badging at the front and rear, similar to how Toyota does it. The interior is the same story as well.

Instead, the highlight of the GS8 HEV is the hybrid powertrain. It packs a 2.0L turbocharged engine paired with the 4th Generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS II), delivering a maximum output of 140 kW and 320 Nm of torque. 4WD comes standard as well.

As for the price, the 2026 GAC GS8 HEV retails for PHP 2,488,000, but comes with a special introductory price of PHP 2,338,000.

GAC E8

The other model revealed by GAC Philippines is the E8. It’s a hybrid electric MPV capable of seating 7.

This model is more of a preview, and it is set to be fully launched at a later date. With that, there aren’t a lot of details about the E8 just yet. GAC Philippines says it will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain capable of up to 1,200 kilometers of driving range.

It will also be supported by fast-charging capabilities that can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.

From our perspective, it’s smaller than the GN8, but it still looks quite premium inside and out. There’s no word on pricing yet either, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for this vehicle.

Both the GS8 HEV and the E8 HEV are on display at the GAC Philippines booth at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show for those interested in checking them out.
