It was widely reported a few weeks ago that Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) is gearing up for another launch. Speculations about the specific model to be launched are the Custo or Custin.
The fire has been stoked further by the latest news that the Custo/Custin has just made its ASEAN debut.
2024 Hyundai Custo/Custin Vietnam launch
Hyundai Vietnam just held its regional debut for the 5-door 7-seater minivan, the Custo/Custin was first launched in China back in 2021 and has crossed over to Taiwan already as well.
Lookswise it shares more styling cues with the Tuscon than it does with the other people carrier models in the brand lineup by making use of the automaker’s Sensuous Sportiness design language. Overall though it still very much looks like the modern Hyundai through and through.
As a minivan, the Custo/Custin adopts a  2-2-3 passenger layout with captain seats adorning the second row. As expected, it is targeting a more upmarket clientele, meaning the interior is very much specified that way with an abundance of luxury touches and design cues here and there.
Powering the vehicle in China is a 1.5-liter turbocharged Smartstream-G inline-4 that produces 170 hp and 253 Nm of torque with a transmission option of an 8-speed automatic. There is also a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that pops out 236 hp and 353 Nm of torque.
As for what specs and powertrains we’ll be getting here should it make its debut is still unknown, but with a rumored launch set for sometime in October 2023, we might not have to wait that long to find out if the Alphard and Carnival have a new competitor.
