Good news! LRT-2 Marikina-Pasig Station and Sta. Lucia Mall Link now open

Another LRT-2 station has opened for the public! As of April 18, the Marikina-Pasig Station and Sta. Lucia Mall Link was blessed and opened. Its opening hopes to make it more convenient for train commuters in the area, especially since it has direct access to offices and the Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall.

The blessing and opening of the new LRT-2 station were led by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino and was likewise attended by RTA Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera, Sta. Lucia Land Inc. Director Orestes Santos, and Vice President Jayson Robles who cut the ribbon, signifying the start of its operation.

A footbridge connects the station to the Sta. Lucia BPO Building, which in turn is connected to the 2nd floor of Sta. Lucia Mall Building 1.

It’s expected that this direct link to the LRT-2 will enhance the safety and accessibility of the mall for commuters. Sta. Lucia developer also said that “the link’s opening further establishes the company’s commitment to creating modern and convenient lifestyle options for its customers and the general public” in a separate statement.

As part of a 17-kilometer railway system, the LRT-2 Marikina-Pasig station is one of 13 stations between Rizal and Manila. The railway sees service for about 30,000 train commuters daily. To further its coverage, the Light Rail Transit Authority is also looking at constructing more lines, this time between Paranaque and Manila.

Eastsiders, rejoice! And if you have time, maybe you can enjoy some mall time, too.
