With the “GO” signal to use plastic cards from the winning supplier, a new Driver’s License renewal schedule has been issued by the Land Transportation Office (LTO). For licenses that have expired since April 1, 2023, and for those that have yet to expire on June 30, 2024, all the information needed for renewing can be seen below.
Driver’s License renewal schedule for 2023-expired and 2024-expiring licenses
For your reference, the new Driver’s License renewal schedule has been posted above. In a nutshell, though, it covers 3 “sets” of expired/expiring licenses and the dates within which they must be renewed, given the validity extensions that they were previously granted.
So, if your license expired between April 1 – August 31, 2023, or will expire between April 1-30, 2024, validity will be until April 30, 2024, and you will have to renew between April 15-30, 2024.
If your license expired between September 1 – December 31, 2023, or will expire between May 1-31, 2024, validity will be until April 30, 2024 and you will have to renew between May 1-31, 2024.
And if your license expired between January 1 – March 31, 2023, or will expire between June 1-30, 2024, validity will be until April 30, 2024 and you will have to renew between June 1-30, 2024.
Based on the LTO memo, “Failure of the driver to renew his/her driver’s license within the prescribed schedule shall render the license expired”. The Driver’s License renewal schedule aims at ensuring that motorists would not flock to LTO offices nationwide.
“The list will ensure orderly distribution. This list will be posted in our LTO offices and in our social media accounts so we appeal to our clients to always keep themselves updated,” said LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II.
“Gagawin natin ang by schedule na processing at claiming para hindi magsiksikan sa mga LTO offices and eventually magkaroon ng order ang processing at distribution [We are doing implementing a schedule for processing and claiming so people will not swarm LTO offices and to have order for processing and distribution],” said Assec Mendoza.
At least one million pieces of plastic cards were delivered to the LTO Central Office on Monday, March 25, after the Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the DOTr and the LTO, through the Office of the Solicitor General, when it lifted the Writ of Preliminary Injunction issued by a Quezon City court last year.
There you have it, everyone! Hopefully, this Driver’s License renewal schedule will be the last to be issued since the LTO will (SHOULD) now have a steady supply of plastic cards to use.
