It’s not new news that the full utilization of the LTMS Portal was a big target for the LTO. Originally, and during the previous leadership’s tenure, it was supposed to have full functionality by August of this year 11. Obviously, some things hampered this from happening. The Land Transportation Office has renewed and strengthened its efforts towards this goal, though, and this time, it’s setting the end of this month as its new deadline.
LTO sets sights on 100% implementation of LTMS by end of October 2023
It’s been quite a long time coming, and it’s also about time that the LTO refocuses on the yet undelivered commitment by the agency. This is a good thing, of course! Following the directive of DOTr Chief Jaime Bautista, LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II is targeting full implementation of the LTMS by the end of October and stated that a technical working group will be created to focus on getting the system up to 100% functionality and usability by the end of the month.
“Magtatayo tayo ng [We will create a] Technical Working Group. I want to once and for all itong Technical Working Group na ito isa lang talaga ang pakay nito, to make sure na kung ano man ang problema pa natin dito sa ating computer program na LTMS eh sana matapos na ‘no [I want this Technical Working Group to once and for all focus and make sure that we solve all problems of the LTMS]. So in the meantime we will limit the… we will slowly gradually hopefully by this end of month eh ay 100% LTMS na tayo,” said Mendoza.
Regional directors and district officers were already brought up to speed on Mendoza’s goal to completely migrate towards the use of LTMS when providing service to the public.
The goal for the LTMS Portal was to serve as a one-stop online “shop” that integrates all of the LTO’s services. If this is achieved, all transactions can finally be done online from the convenience of one’s home through a single contactless database system and digital platform.
Much like his predecessor, the digitalization of the LTO’s services was one of Mendoza’s promises to the people. In a bid to provide efficient and effective services to the public, it seems the Chief and his agency are on the right track as far as promises and timelines go; if they are able to meet the deadline, in contrast to the previous LTO 16 administration, remains to be seen, but we’d like to keep an open and positive mind.
Here’s to hoping that they do make good on this deadline this time. Oh, and if you haven’t done it yet, here’s how to create your LTO LTMS Account 144.
