Mazda has officially revealed the all-new Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV on July 10, 2025. The latest model marks the third generation of Mazda’s global best-seller and is set to arrive in European showrooms by the end of 2025, with other markets following in 2026.

First introduced in 2012, the CX-5 was Mazda’s first model to fully adopt the “KODO – Soul of Motion” design philosophy and the SKYACTIV technology suite. It has since become the brand’s most successful model, with cumulative global sales exceeding 4.5 million units across more than 100 countries.

For the third-generation CX-5, Mazda developed the concept of “New Generation Emotional Daily Comfort,” aiming to refine the vehicle’s blend of design, driving feel, and practicality. The new CX-5 retains the core traits of its predecessors, including the KODO design and “Jinba-Ittai” driving experience—Mazda’s term for a connected, responsive driving feel.

The interior has been updated to enhance comfort, usability, space, and cabin quietness. Mazda has also introduced a new Human-Machine Interface (HMI), improved smartphone connectivity through added apps, and updated Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) to improve everyday usability and safety.

The European-spec Mazda CX-5 measures 4,690 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,695 mm in height. It is powered by the e-SKYACTIV G 2.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with Mazda’s M Hybrid system, and features a SKYACTIV-DRIVE 6-speed automatic transmission. The suspension setup comprises MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link system at the rear, accommodating seating for up to five passengers.

The sole engine offering in Europe is a 2.5-liter direct-injection petrol unit paired with Mazda’s M Hybrid system, which supports improved fuel economy and smoother operation. This mild hybrid configuration will also be used in Japan and select other markets.
Mazda is also preparing to introduce “SKYACTIV-Z,” a next-generation combustion technology paired with a new hybrid system, by the end of 2027.

Mazda says the new CX-5 reflects its continued commitment to delivering the “Joy of Driving” as part of its “Radically Human” brand values.
