MG Motor Philippines has signed a formal agreement with En Tsumugi ELV Dismantling Corporation for the proper disposal of electric vehicle units damaged in a fire incident on April 6, 2025.
The partnership covers the safe, environmentally compliant dismantling of the affected units, with particular focus on their high-voltage (HV) batteries, which require specialized handling in accordance with global environmental standards.

En Tsumugi, based in Mexico, Pampanga, operates the Philippines’ first model End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) dismantling facility. According to both parties, this marks the first time in the local automotive industry that fire-damaged EVs have been formally processed at a certified dismantling facility.
MG Motor Philippines President Wei Wei Zhang said the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to managing operational incidents responsibly. “Safety, responsibility, and sustainability remain at the core of MG’s operations,” he said. “This reflects our long-term commitment to responsible mobility in the Philippines.”

En Tsumugi CFO and Marketing Director John Hung said the collaboration aligns with evolving global practices in vehicle end-of-life management. “As vehicle technologies evolve, proper recovery and treatment standards must evolve as well,” Hung said.

The signing also forms part of MG Philippines’ corporate social responsibility efforts, as the company looks to establish clearer protocols for handling EV-related incidents in the country.
