PIMS 2024 – Awesome EV9 GT-Line is newest addition to Kia PH vehicle lineup

Much excitement has been built since its announcement, and today we see the Kia EV9 in the metal! Officially launched at PIMS 2024, Kia’s newest SUV is big, beautiful, and best of all, electric! Here’s what we can expect from the newest from Korea. Well, one of the newest from Korea. But we digress. Here we go.

Brief rundown of Kia EV9 specs and its price in the PH

Let us begin by saying that the EV9 is what Kia declares as its “bold vision for the new era of electrification”. That said, it’s been built as a “re-envisioning” of what an all-electric SUV’s design could – or should – be. Sophisticated, classy, and rugged enough to keep up with in- and out-of-city travels, this electrified Kia is impressive, which may be an understatement.

One look at its exterior, you know Kia has something special with the EV9. You know how so many people have compared some more recent SUV and crossover designs to something like a Star Wars Storm Trooper? This one probably embodies that the best, if of the First Order kind. A massive clamshell hood, a fully flat fascia with headlight units neatly tucked into the sides and corners, minimalist yet sharp lines and edges all around, black pillar accents, and wheelsets that look straight out of a future car catalog from the 90s have all found their way in and onto this new electrified SUV.

Inside you’re treated to 3 rows of seats, swiveling captain seats in the 2nd, and a 2-seater bench (that can likely fit a 3rd individual) in the rearmost. But perhaps the biggest draw of the interior is the passenger space comparable to, if not bigger, than a 2023 Tesla Model X or 2023 BMW X7, excellent NVH levels, a premium audio system, premium yet environmentally sustainable materials, and two sizeable 12.3″ digital screens spanning the gauge cluster to the infotainment system.

The EV9 sits on the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) and uses fourth-generation battery technology. The battery being mentioned, the PH-spec GT-Line variant (the only one that will be available here, mind you) comes with a unit rated at 99.8 kWh. Charging is taken care of by way of an 11 kW AC charger that can fully charge the battery in 9 hours and 45 minutes, while a 50 kW DC fast charger takes it from 10% to 80% in 83 minutes. Using a 350 kW DC charger can achieve this in just 24 minutes!

The all-electric powertrain has 2 dual electric motors that pump out 384 HP and 700 Nm of pull. 0 to 100 km/h is reached in just 5 seconds, so the Kia EV9 is sure to give you a lot of oomph whether you’re behind the wheel or a passenger.

Now comes the price. Kia Philippines is sticking the tag at PHP 5,888,000. Quite a hefty amount, but for what you’re getting, it truly is an impressive package. It’s available in three colors: Ocean Blue, Snow White Pearl, and Aurora Black Pearl, and also includes a 5-year or 160,000-km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 160,000-km warranty for the electric motor and battery.

The Kia EV9 GT-Line electric vehicle can be viewed and purchased at Kia New Manila, Kia Pampanga, Kia Alabang, and Kia Otis. Orders and reservations may also be accepted at any of the other 40 Kia dealerships nationwide.

While a number of manufacturers the world over have chosen to slow their shift towards electrification, Kia is forging forward with the EV9, and with it, they’re ready to take the PH to a new electrified SUV level.
