Porsche has ushered in the third generation of the Panamera luxury sedan, featuring a comprehensive overhaul that encompasses enhanced digital capabilities, a refreshed and expressive design, and an expanded spectrum between dynamic performance and driving comfort.
This latest iteration of the Porsche Panamera underscores its sporting nature with more potent drive systems. A modernized operating concept and innovative technologies further contribute to its profile. Among these advancements is the newly introduced Porsche Active Ride suspension system, a notable feature that combines heightened comfort with the renowned sporting driving characteristics synonymous with the Porsche brand. Additionally, the integration of the user’s digital ecosystem into the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) introduces novel ways of interacting with the vehicle. The redesigned, driver-centric interior and a wide array of driver assistance systems elevates the overall driving experience.
The Panamera’s suspension systems are a testament to its superior feel and state-of-the-art engineering. Equipped with dual-chamber two-valve air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard, the vehicle offers an extended range between comfort and sportiness. Optional all-wheel steering further enhances the car’s handling. The innovative Porsche Active Ride active suspension system, available for E-Hybrid models, surpasses other concepts, offering an unprecedented balance between driving comfort and dynamics. This system employs newly developed active shock absorbers, utilizing two-valve technology and a weight-saving single-chamber air-suspension system to optimize performance.
In terms of powertrains, Porsche introduced four efficient E-Hybrid options for the new Panamera, responding to the growing demand for environmentally friendly drive systems. The Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, featuring a fundamentally revised four-liter V8 turbo engine and an integrated electric motor, boasts a system output of 500 kW (680 PS) and a system torque of 930 Nm. The Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 315 km/h. The enhanced battery capacity provides an electric range of up to 91 kilometers in the combined WLTP cycle.
In the design department, the new Panamera maintains its predecessors’ distinctive lines and proportions but receives a fundamental revamp for a more expressive and sporting appearance. The front end features an additional air intake, addressing the increased air demand of the drive systems, while the side view showcases a redesigned window line, emphasizing the sedan character. The Porsche Driver Experience cockpit concept strikes a balance between digital and analog controls, with essential elements positioned along the driver’s axis for optimal accessibility.
The Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid stands out with its special Turbo branding, featuring a distinctive rear apron, painted diffuser panels, and a unique front apron in body color. Inside, the Turbo-exclusive color Turbonite, combined with carbon elements, creates a sporty ambiance.
As part of the digital ecosystem, the new Panamera integrates seamlessly with the driver’s personal Porsche ID, allowing easy login via a QR code. Connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enhance the interaction between smartphones and the vehicle. Standard Matrix LED headlights, with over 32,000 pixels per headlight, illuminate the road with new features such as dedicated lane brightening. The range of assistance systems has been significantly upgraded, including the standard active speed assistant, Porsche InnoDrive with adaptive cruise control, and a new swerve assistant.
All in all, the third generation of the Porsche Panamera represents a comprehensive evolution, blending cutting-edge technology, enhanced performance, and a renewed design to deliver a luxurious and dynamic driving experience. It is also worth noting that it will take time until the all-new Panamera arrives in the Philippines, but we can be certain that it will arrive eventually.
