Subaru has introduced the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid in the United States, marking the return of the hybrid model for its third-generation Crosstrek lineup. Equipped with a next-generation series-parallel hybrid system and the brand’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the new Crosstrek Hybrid promises improved range, capability, and efficiency.
The hybrid system combines a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER engine, electric motors, and a Lineartronic® CVT for a total output of 194 horsepower. The new model retains off-road capabilities while offering greater efficiency than its non-hybrid variants. It also features 8.7 inches of ground clearance and X-MODE with Hill Descent Control, making it a versatile option for urban and rugged terrains.
The 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid features a 2.5-liter Atkinson/Miller-cycle engine, an electric motor generator, and a high-capacity 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. The system optimizes power delivery by seamlessly switching between the electric motor and engine or a combination of both, ensuring smooth performance on and off the road.
All Crosstrek Hybrid models come standard with Subaru’s latest EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. Enhancements include a wider field of view, updated software, and an electric brake booster for quicker response. EyeSight better detects cyclists and pedestrians, providing timely warnings and automatic braking when necessary. Additional safety features include Reverse Automatic Braking, Blind-Spot Detection, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
A new Emergency Stop Assist feature has been added. If the driver becomes unresponsive, it can bring the vehicle to a halt, activate hazard lights, and contact emergency services.
The Crosstrek Hybrid offers advanced infotainment features, including an optional 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a tablet-style 11.6-inch Subaru Multimedia system. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a full-screen display, Bluetooth, and over-the-air updates.
That said, there is no word of the Crosstrek Hybrid making its way to the Philippines anytime soon. However, with the increasing demand for electrified vehicles, now could be the perfect time to introduce it.
