A couple of months ago, it was reported that the Subaru Levorg nameplate would live on. This came as surprising news because the previous Levorg wagon was axed in favor of the WRX Wagon.
So what exactly is this newly launched and revived Levorg?
Subaru Levorg Layback
The all-new Levorg was revealed recently in Japan, the new model is essentially a raised version of the WRX Wagon we get in the Philippines. This was probably done for those who find the raised Outback wagon too big for them, in Japan, the WRX Wagon is called the Levorg.
The Levorg Layback has a 200mm ground clearance, and the design is very much unchanged from the WRX Wagon apart from the bigger front grille which is more rounded. It also has more plastic cladding for a more rugged look and updated 18-inch alloy wheels.
In terms of the interior, the Levorg layback has a very similar layout to the other models in the brand’s lineup, the color combination is called black and ash, creating a more luxurious feel as opposed to a monotony of black. Other interior features include an 11.6-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the instrument cluster is a 12.3-inch fully digital screen. Under the hood of the Subaru Levorg Layback is a 1.8-liter turbocharged flat-four engine that produces 177 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, mated to a Lineartronic CVT that sends power to all four wheels with Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD system.
The Levorg is currently exclusive only to the Japanese market, but given the model name’s provenance in other markets, a global version may not be so far out of reach.
