Since it opened, PITX, or the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange has been rather successful. Enter TCITX or, more properly, the Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange. As part of the Department of Transportation’s plans to replicate PITX’s success, a new terminal in Taguig will rise in only a few years’ time to make way for seamless travel between Metro Manila, Laguna, and Batangas for commuters.
TCITX seen to help decongest traffic in Southern Manila
Working together on this project are the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Arca South Integrated Terminals, Inc. of Ayala Land, Inc., and the groundbreaking ceremony for the multi-modal TCITX – seen to duplicate the success of the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange or PITX – was held yesterday. This integrated terminal will make way for effective (inter)connections between different transport modes and services.
“This project will be instrumental in decongesting major thoroughfares and offering a smoother journey for the riding public. We eagerly anticipate its completion and operational launch in the first quarter of 2028,” said Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista. Bautista likewise explained that the TCITX is aimed at rationalizing transfer points of people and goods in the country, especially for the commuting public coming from Laguna, Cavite, and Batangas, and that once it opens, it will both decongest traffic in the southern portion of Metro Manila and provide travelers efficient and accessible transportation.
The terminal is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project and will stand on a 5.57-hectare area. It will be built as expansive as it can be to accommodate what the DOTr estimates to be a 160,000-passenger capacity and the ability to accommodate 5,200 vehicles every day. Of course, the TCITX will include passenger terminal buildings, arrival and departure bays, public information systems, ticketing and baggage handling facilities, park-ride facilities, and like PITX, will also have passenger-friendly facilities.
This new Terminal will interface with the Southeast Metro Manila Expressway (SEMME) or C6 Expressway through entry and exit ramps, the North-South Commuter Railway System (NSCR), and the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) once it starts operations.
Good news, yes?
