Ever since the launch of the current generation Subaru WRX, the Japanese AWD specialist has made it clear that there will be no STi version for the current generation. In fact, they went as far as saying that the next time the STi version comes out it will be an EV.
Well, it seems the brand isn’t done sprucing up the current WRX though because a leak coming from drive.com in Australia is teasing something big.
2024 Subaru WRX WRX TR
According to the report (accompanied by leaked photos), Subaru is planning to release a WRX TR, TR means Tuner Ready, and this vehicle is supposedly set for a a reveal at the Subiefest event in Florida.
There have been some official teaser photos that show updated Brembo brakes, updated rims, Recaro bucket seats, and according to the leaked photos a bigger STi-style rear spoiler.
It is unclear whether the WRX TR will get any updates or upgrades in terms of the power unit, but the report from drive.com states that there will be none. Nonetheless, we can assume that the brand’s rumored updates will still make a difference on track compared to the regular WRX. Lastly, in the American market, the TR will only be available with a 6-speed manual.
Of course, nothing is official until the official reveal of the vehicle, but Subie fans the world over are waiting to see if the TR is worth the hype.
