Chevrolet has had an up-and-down history in the Philippines, when the Colorado and Trailblazer were launched the brand soared to new heights for a couple of years. Times had changed though and with the closure of the Thailand plant the brand had been stuck in limbo only selling a few (unremarkable) models like the Tracker.
Chevrolet bringing back the Trax
Recently though the brand which is under the distributorship of The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) has been trying to jumpstart the brand once more with the earlier launch of the all-new Tahoe and is now teasing another new model; the all-new Chevrolet Trax.
The Trax was actually sold here a few years ago but barely made a dent in the market before being killed off, this current second-generation model was first unveiled in July last year for the Chinese market and named the Seeker. It was then launched in North America in October as the Trax. This generation is larger than before and now classifies as a compact SUV making it a direct competitor for the Ford Territory.
Lookswise the new generation Trax looks so much better than the bland 1st generation, it now features more aggressive and interesting styling, and It obviously takes a lot of design cues from other Chevy vehicles. Inside the interior looks very clean and modern, nothing too out of the ordinary in terms of design and layout.
Powering the Trax is a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 137 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque, the lone transmission option is a 6-speed automatic.
No specs have been revealed yet, but the Chevrolet Trax is set to debut in the Philippines on July 4, 2023.
