It seems that April is really the month of the Mustang, the 60th-anniversary celebration just finished with a lot of worldwide fanfare. Adding to the celebration is another legendary iteration of the original pony car, the Shelby Super Snake is back for 2024.
2024 Shelby Super Snake
During a press conference led by Shelby American CEO Jon Conway, he said that the new Super Snake aims to be the pinnacle of the brand’s performance cars. This isn’t a surprise considering that Shelby and Ford have been working together for decades churning out iconic models including the Super Snake.
With a name like Super Snake, we can expect that it will have immense power. It has 2 engine options, the familiar naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Cayote V8 making around 480 HP. The next option is the same engine but beefed up with a supercharger making an earth-moving 830 HP. Both versions of the Super Snake though have better suspension for precision handling, a free-flowing Borla exhaust, better cooling, and stronger brakes. In a very enthusiastic move, the Super Snake is also available in a short-shifting 6-speed manual transmission.
The distinction is an important part of the Super Snake DNA, this has led the brand to create a more aggressive-looking Mustang with a more aggressive body kit. The hood is now made of aluminum, and carbon for the fenders, bumpers, grille, side rockers, and lower diffuser.
The Shelby Super Snake is only available in the US with only 250 examples set to be made.
