MCX toll fee increase effective as of March 19, 2024

MCX is the newest among Luzon expressways to increase its toll fees. The adjusted fees were implemented yesterday, March 19, 2024, and the changes sweep across the board; Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 vehicles will see a price bump after the Toll Regulatory Board approved the proposed new rates.

The good thing about the toll fee increase is that it’s not as big as many might have thought or feared. All vehicle classifications will have adjustments to their fees applied, and they go up by PHP 1USD 0.02INR 1EUR 0.02CNY 0.12 for Class 1, PHP 2USD 0.03INR 3EUR 0.03CNY 0.25 for Class 2, and PHP 3USD 0.05INR 4EUR 0.05CNY 0.37 for Class 3.

The matrix seen above shows the combined toll fees of both MCX and the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).

Class 2 applies to minibusses, light trucks, and vans that have a height of more than 7.5′ or 2.27m.

As for Class 3, this deals with buses, trailer trucks, heavy-duty truck heads, and all vehicles with three or more axles that exceed a 7.5′ or 2.27m.

It’s worth noting that this toll fee increase is the second Tranche of the provisionally approved 2018 and 2020 Consolidated Periodic Toll Rate Adjustments for the MCX.

The Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway spans 4.00 kilometers with 2X2 Lane road from the Junction of Daang Reyna and Daang Hari in Las Piñas/Bacoor Cavite to South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), as entry and exit from the northbound and southbound lanes of SLEX, traverses the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation.

Expressways and those who own its concessions do need to find funds for maintenance and upkeep, and toll fee increases like this are unavoidable. At least it isn’t that big of an adjustment, yes?
