In the past 2 years, more of the Philippine car-buying public has been receptive to the idea of EVs (Electric Vehicles). This has led manufacturers to bring in some EVs to test the market and push the initiative. Volkswagen PH though seems to be having a different problem with their EVs.
Unofficial Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.6
It seems that word has reached those at Volkswagen PH that there are some gray-market dealers importing and selling ID.4 and ID.6 EVs locally.
This has led the brand to release this statement about the issue:
The statement actually makes sense, because whenever a new vehicle is set to launch in the local market, the brand must first run the car through a series of tests just to see if the specification will hold up in our local driving conditions. Furthermore, if a car isn’t officially released yet, the brand may not yet be equipped to service them at the dealerships.
Not to mention that vehicles bought through unofficial channels are not covered by any of the brand’s official warranty programs. Such are the risks you run if you buy a vehicle from the gray market.
Those interested in Volkswagen EVs may not have to wait that long in the first place, the brand is planning to introduce a slew of EVs in the Philippines in the near future.
