Porsche has marked the end of its limited-run 911 Dakar production with the delivery of a highly customized Sonderwunsch special at its Zuffenhausen plant. This special vehicle, tailored for an Italian sports car collector, showcases unique design elements and advanced features.
Introduced in November 2022, the 911 Dakar stands out as a versatile sports car capable of excelling both on and off-road. With a ground clearance approximately 50 mm higher than a 911 Carrera equipped with sports suspension, the Dakar features off-road-ready enhancements such as red forged aluminium recovery eyelets, widened wheel arches, and reinforced sills. Powered by a 911 GTS-derived three-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine delivering 473 hp and 570 Nm of torque, it combines powerful performance with a distinctive metallic tone at high RPMs.
The final 911 Dakar unit underwent extensive customization in Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program. It features a striking three-tone paint scheme that integrates Signal yellow and Gentianbluemetallic, inspired by the Rallye Design Package and the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally winner. A Lampedusablue stripe, named after the Italian island, completes the design.
Additional touches include alloy wheels with Signal yellow spokes and a rim edge in Lampedusablue. The LED Matrix headlights have Lampedusa accents, while black stainless steel protective elements enhance the rugged appearance.
Inside, the cabin contrasts yellow accents with a predominantly black theme. Yellow stitching adorns the dashboard, center console, and door panels, while the ‘911 Dakar’ logo is embroidered in Speedyellow on the Sports Seats Plus headrests. The gear selector features a Speedyellow leather insert, and LED projectors display the Sonderwunsch logo when the doors open.
This exclusive 911 Dakar will be displayed in the Porsche Museum before being delivered to its new owner. In the museum’s foyer, visitors can view the car alongside other unique models, providing a final opportunity to see this customized masterpiece.
This handover marks the completion of the 911 Dakar’s limited production run of 2,500 units, further solidifying its place as a standout chapter in Porsche’s legacy.
