After nearly a year of teasers and snippets, Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines stormed the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), revealing a dynamic lineup poised to redefine the automotive landscape in the Philippines. As part of the Chery Group, these brands showcased their commitment to innovation, catering specifically to the preferences of younger car buyers.
The spotlight was on Omoda, which presented two captivating models at MIAS – the Omoda 5 and the Omoda E5 electric vehicle (EV). Geared towards the younger demographic, both models boasted sleek aesthetics and interiors brimming with advanced features.
Under the hood, the Omoda 5 is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine mated with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), delivering an impressive 148 hp and 230 Nm of torque to the front wheels. On the other hand, the Omoda E5, an electric marvel, is equipped with an electric motor capable of producing 204 hp and 400 Nm of torque, offering eco-conscious drivers a compelling option for emissions-free transportation.

The Omoda E5 boasts a claimed range of up to 450 km on a single charge, coupled with AC/DC charging capability, making recharging a hassle-free experience. Its 110 kW peak DC fast charging capability ensures swift recharges, enhancing the EV ownership experience for users constantly on the move.
Meanwhile, Jaecoo made its presence felt with the debut of two crossover SUVs – the Jaecoo 7 and 8. While both models feature unibody construction, they cater to distinct market segments and driving preferences.
Positioned as a luxury seven-seater ride, the Jaecoo 8 offers premium comfort and amenities to discerning drivers. Equipped with a robust 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, it delivers an impressive 249 hp and 385 Nm of torque, alongside all-wheel-drive capability for enhanced traction and stability.
On the flip side, the Jaecoo 7 is a five-seat crossover engineered to tackle slightly challenging terrain with ease. Its 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine generates 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque, offering a perfect blend of performance and practicality. The seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission ensures smooth and responsive shifts, enhancing the overall driving dynamics.
The debut of Omoda and Jaecoo at MIAS signals an exciting new chapter in the Philippine automotive industry. While official pricing is yet to be announced, Omoda & Jaecoo estimates that the Omoda 5 will be available for purchase under P1.4 million.
