Kia PH made 2024 a year of rejuvenation and it seems they aren’t done yet. During the 9th Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) press conference, brand representative and boss Brian Buendia announced that a new and exciting EV will be launched during the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).
Kia EV9 to make PH debut at 2024 PIMS
It was confirmed during the press conference that Kia PH will be launching the EV9 EV SUV locally. The EV9 is a huge 3-row SUV that is part of the EV line and is related to the EV6 and others as well.
No official specs have been confirmed just yet, but the EV9 could come in a number of variations. Firstly, despite the size difference from the smaller EV6 both cars share the same E-GMP platform, there are a range of electrified powertrain options that could be launched here. A standard rear-wheel drive variant is powered by a 76.1 kWh battery while a 99.8 kWh battery is fitted to both the Rear Wheel Drive Long Range and All Wheel Drive variants. The brand claims that the longest cruising range of the EV9 is 540 kilometers, and an ultra-fast 800-watt charging capability recharges up to 239 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes.
This is a monumental announcement given that the EV9 has already existed locally albeit through unofficial grey market channels. With the official launch looming it means future EV9 owners can now benefit from full official support from Kia PH.
Only time will tell now which actual EV9 variant we get locally, but the wait wont be so long anymore.
