The Ferrari F80 is the new prancing horse hypercar with 1,184 HP

We’re entering a new era of hypercars, with brands like McLaren and Porsche already announcing their offerings, now it’s time for the 3rd “holy trinity” member Ferrari to showcase their challenger; the F80.

Ferrari F80

The F80 has enormous shoes to fill taking the reins from the LaFerrari which was launched almost a decade ago, but the biggest headline move the brand made is not use their iconic V12, but has instead chosen to develop a 3.0 liter V6 paired with 3 electric motors to make a massive 1,184 hp, the most powerful engine ever made by the Maranello outfit. Headline numbers are 0-62 mph in just 2.15 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph.

Interestingly the engine used is also related to the one running in the 296 sports car and the 499P Le Mans car. Ferrari also chose to develop the electric motors themselves, the 3 electric motors combined produce around 325 hp.

The F80 makes use of an asymmetrical monocoque chassis made with carbon fiber and composite materials, the roof is fully carbon fiber and the front and rear subframes are made from aluminium.

A cool interior feature is what the brand calls a 1+ configuration where the driver’s seat is a red adjustable unit and all the controls are more canted and focused on the driver, the passenger seat is pure black and fixed to the chassis.

In terms of design, the F80 very much resembles the current Ferrari-style philosophy but is also influenced by aerodynamics. The front nose with the S-Duct provides the F80 with 1,014 pounds of downforce at 155 mph just for the front, and the rear active wing produces 1,300 pounds of downforce for a combined 2,204 pounds at 155 mph, a truly astonishing number for a road-legal vehicle.

Handling is taken care of by an active suspension system, the dampers have a motor that can brake or accelerate the piston, eliminating the need for anti-roll bars and allowing for good ride quality and handling performance. The suspension system also ensures a very stable aerodynamic platform, essential for a high-downforce car like this.

The F80 will begin sales and production by the end of 2025 and will have an eye-watering price tag of $4 Million.
