Jeepney Co. showcases first double-decker jeepney

Jeepney Company, the company behind Jeepney Tours that offers tourists with Pinoy-style transport in some of the top destinations in the country since 2005, have recently showcased the double-decker Jeepney complete with airconditioning system, a refrigerator, a pair of TV, sound system and two microphones for those who fancy videoke while on the road.

Back in September last year the Jeepney Company, together with Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr., showed attendees of Philippine Travel Mart 2013 a scale drawing of the proposed double-decker jeepney. A year later, a prototype was unveiled at SMX Convention Center for the 25th Philippine Travel Mart and is expected to make its maiden voyage on October.

The company has already started taking reservations for the double-decker jeepney who will take tourists to top destinations around the metro. According to Philippine Daily Inquirer, renting the pimped-out jeepney for eight hours will set prospective customers back Php11,000Php18,000.

Bat prang ang jeepney ang sinisisi nyo sa trapik d2 sa pinas? ang jeep 20 ang sakay. ang mga private 1-2 lang ang sakay. Do the math.

It’s not the numbers, its the attitude. A lot of the drivers of these PUJ are reckless and ignorant of the basic traffic rules and etiquette. Stopping at traffic corners and in the middle lane and all. Buses are also guilty, given they also stop in the middle or block one lane waiting for the other vehicle to exit the other.

There’s no math in here. It boils down to discipline, or lack of it, of the jeepney drivers (include the bus drivers).

Sa tingin ko tama lang na magkaroon tayo ng ganyang klaseng pampulikong sasakyan lalo na sa Manila. Kasi mas madaming maisasakay yan eh, kumpara sa paisa isang jeep. Makakatulong yan kahit paano mabawasan ang dami ng sasakyan sa Manila.. kakaloka ang traffic!

It should be the new standard for all jeepneys. This could minimize the numbers of jeepneys that will use the roads, thus It will lighten up the traffic in some major roads.
