The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) has announced that it will now accept cashless transactions on three major expressways in Luzon.
Following the announcement, cashless and contactless transactions such as Beep Cards, and Mastercard credit and debit cards that offer contactless payments including Smart Telecommunications’ PayMaya Mastercard, are now accepted at North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) tolls. This is in addition to the already-implemented RFID cards currently used to pass through the tolls of the said expressway. Meanwhile, support for Visa PayWave-supported credit and debit cards will be rolling out in the coming future.
MPTC Chairman Manny Pangilinan believes in the digital payment landscape and its contribution to a safer and better transaction. “The use of digital payments is helping usher a new era of tollways operations in the country where consumers can enjoy faster, more secure and more convenient electronic transactions. This is very much aligned with the National Retail Payment System program of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) that aims to transform 20% of the country’s payment transactions to electronic by 2020.”
Support for Beep Cards and other cards are now accepted at NLEX, while other MPTC-controlled expressways such as the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) will be rolled out soon.

that would be nice if it is implemented throughout in manila and calabarzon region. Beep card is expensive for 80.00 here in point to point from muntinlupa to makati. Hence the bus is safe installed with cctv and also free-wifi and avoids traffic jam. I still prefer their promo price of 50.00
Good news. How about SLEX?
We’ve yet to hear from SLEX management since MPTC only manages these three tollways. We’ll keep you posted as we get the news.
