The 992.2 Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 Touring is here

Porsche is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 911 GT3 with a new model launch, offering two variants for the first time: a track-focused version with a rear wing and a more understated Touring package. This anniversary model features a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine, delivering 503 hp and 450 Nm of torque, along with enhanced customization options.

The new 911 GT3 incorporates an expanded lightweight design strategy, with innovations such as the Weissach package, which allows customers to tailor their cars even more specifically for track use. Both variants come with aerodynamic enhancements, including a redesigned front diffuser, spoiler lip, and modified rear wing for improved downforce. Owners who want additional safety and performance on the track can also opt for the Clubsport package at no additional cost. It comes with a bolted steel roll cage in the rear, a 6-point harness for the driver, and a hand-held fire extinguisher. This package requires the optional lightweight sports bucket seats.

For the first time, the popular Touring package will be available at the model’s launch. This version of the GT3 maintains a more classic, elegant design by removing the fixed wing and features a high-quality leather interior with a sporty ambiance. The Touring package also offers an optional rear seat system, making the GT3 more adaptable for everyday use. In addition, those who opt for the Touring package can also go for an additional Leichtbau (Lightweight) package in which the roof is painted to match the exterior color, while the stabilizer, coupling rods, and rear axle shear panel are constructed from CFRP. It also includes lightweight magnesium forged wheels and door panels. Paired with the standard 6-speed GT sports gearbox, it features the shortened gear lever from the 911 S/T. A plaque labeled “Leichtbau” in front of the gear lever highlights the package.

While there isn’t much change going on inside the interior, some will lament the loss of the traditional analog rev counter, and is now replaced with a screen. On a positive note, Porsche has retained the key-like switch for starting the car.

Porsche has also introduced a variety of engineering feats to improve handling, including new aluminum wheels and an optional magnesium wheel set. The new model offers improved aerodynamics and suspension, borrowing elements from the 911 GT3 RS to reduce pitching during high-speed braking.

Both variants of the 911 GT3 come with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission or a 6-speed manual, with an 8% shorter gear ratio than previous models. The car accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds (PDK) (3.9 seconds for M/T) and has a top speed of 311 km/h.
