4-month partial road closure of Lagusnilad vehicular underpass starts today

Heads up, everyone! A partial road closure of the Lagusnilad vehicular underpass in the City of Manila starts today, May 2, and is set to finish in September 2023. Rehabilitation works will be done along the roadway and for the next 4 months, expect pretty bad traffic if you’re headed towards the underpass’ direction.

*** UPDATE, June 13, 2023: FULL closure will be implemented starting TODAY, Tuesday, June 13 to give way to its full rehabilitation which is expected to be completed on September 2023. ***

As mentioned, there is only a partial closure of the Lagusnilad underpass. At any given time, there will be one lane that is passable for vehicles going in the direction of Taft Avenue. Regardless, the LGU of Manila saw fit to provide a list of alternate routes for motorists to consider in order to avoid the impending traffic jams.

Before getting to the underpass, Taft-bound motorists are advised to take the right lane going into Padre Burgos Avenue. From there, they will have to turn right into Round Table and cross Padre Burgos into Maria Orosa Street. From there, they will have to turn right into Kalaw Avenue and make another right which lands them right onto Taft Avenue and toward their destination.

Among the problems of the Lagusnilad underpass are uneven roads as well as flooding. The roadworks being conducted are expected to address these and in the long-term, make it better and more passable for vehicles.
