2023 Mitsubishi Minicab-MiEV to be built in Indonesia, could PH get it eventually?

The Japanese Kei cars were made in order to downside private vehicles for the small congested roads of Japan. Initially, these were only available for the Japanese market, however, Mitsubishi has other plans with the all-new Minicab-MiEV.

Mitsubishi Minicab-MiEV to be built in Indonesia

So what exactly is this new Mitsu Kei car? well, the Minicab-MiEV is a commercial vehicle that adheres to the true nature of the tiny kei car vehicles made famous in Japan. The key aspect here is the commercial vehicle type, because this may be the main reason why the brand has opted to offer it outside Japanese shores.

The vehicle production schedule is set to begin in Indonesia sometime next year. It will feature an underfloor drive battery which will ensure the interior makes no concessions when it comes to cargo capacity. The setup also gives the model a lower center of gravity, which in turn results in improved steering and comfort.

Given the Minicab-MiEV’s unique selling proposition of zero emissions and utilitarian/commercial properties, it may just be what emerging market countries need, especially countries looking to revive their economies. It would be interesting to see the Minicab-MiEV sold locally, as an eco alternative to the Lite-Ace. We certainly hope Mitsubishi considers bringing it here.
