After two decades, the fourth generation 2019 Suzuki Jimny has launched in Japan last July 5, 2018. It has a boxier and more retro design similar to older generations.
Here’s what we can expect from the 2019 Jimny:
- A newly-designed 1.5-liter K15B engine that provides more power and better fuel economy than its predecessor
- Better off-road performance
- A roomier interior with more luggage space
- Suzuki Safety Support technology, including Dual Sensor Brake Support, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, etc.
There will be minicar and compact car versions. The former will only be available in its home country. The compact car, sold as the Jimny Sierra in Japan, has been confirmed as the worldwide model and is the focus of this article. It will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Kosai Plant in Japan for the first time.
In Japan, the new Jimny (Sierra) starts at ¥1,760,400 (~Php851k) for the 5-speed MT 4WD model, and the 4-speed AT 4WD model starts at ¥1,857,600 (~Php897k).
