The Toyota GR Yaris is considered by many as “The” enthusiast car of the moment, ever since its launch a few years ago it has gained a true worldwide following. As with any successful model, the mantra would normally be “Why fix what ain’t broke?” but there are rumblings that the brand is eager to update the hot hatch.
2024 Toyota GR Yaris Update
According to the publication Best Car, sources close to Toyota say that one of the main updates will be a bumped-up version of the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine which is set to produce exactly 300 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque.
Further updates include a newly developed 8-speed automatic transmission that was already rumored to be in the works some time ago. The report claims that the transmission will feature paddle shifters accompanied by a new lock-up system. It’s not all powertrain upgrades though, to accommodate the new grunt, the GR Yaris will also be given tweaks to the suspension and brakes, not to mention additional rigidity for the body.
Lastly, some subtle changes are set for the exterior with new bumpers, and a bigger rear spoiler. There is also a rumor that a bigger infotainment screen is planned to be introduced as well.
No set date for a release has been announced yet, but we can assume that it could be sometime next year. As for the Philippines getting some allocations? well, chances are high given the interest and demand our market has for the GR Yaris, an updated one would be much appreciated for willing buyers.
