As we wait if (or when) the Nissan 400 Z will finally make it to the Philippines, the brand is moving forward with the vehicle and making us even more jealous, by revealing the Z Nismo version.
2024 Nissan Z Nismo
As is with most Nismo-fied units most of the upgrades are centered towards track-oriented performance visually and mechanically. The Nismo Z takes all the things already found in the Z Performance trim and kicks it up a gear by offering up bigger wheels and brakes, stiffer suspension, and better seats, the NISMO takes all that to the next level and adds in redesigned bodywork, stickier rubber, and more horsepower.
Powering the Z Nismo is the 3.0-Liter V6 Twin-Turbo that features a reworked wastegate, improved cooling, and performance-enhancing ignition timing. As a result the engine now puts out an extra 20 hp and 46 Nm of torque, the figures are 420 hp and 521 Nm of torque. The most surprising thing Nissan did with the Z Nismo is the lack of a manual option, the Nismo will only get a nine-speed automatic option. However, this is no normal transmission it still gets NISMO-only clutch packs and retuned engine management software, so downshifts are more aggressive and faster.
In terms of design, the Z Nismo actually looks pretty tame and isn’t like the Nismo of old that were designed loudly. Nissan has extended the front fascia as well as a redesigned grille and honeycomb mesh for additional cooling, there is also a red line that wraps around the whole car. The other aerodynamic changes feature the extensions at the front corners and a new spoiler at the back.
The Z Nismo has gloss black 19-inch alloy wheels which are much lighter than the ones found on the Z Performance trim. Braking is taken care of by a 4-piston caliper, 15.0-inch brake rotors in the front and 13.8-inch rotors in the rear. The chassis gets additional bracing increasing rigidity by 2.5 percent.
Inside the Z is a sea of black and of course red panels found on the seats, start/stop button, and drive mode selector. The graphics of the gauge have also been updated to give a red outline to add more Nismo-ness to the display.
There is no price yet for the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo, but it is said that it will be sold before the year ends. Hopefully, we get both the Z and the Z Nismo in the Philippines soon.
