The days of the NLEX-SLEX Connector being toll-free are at an end. Beginning August 8, 2023, a toll fee will start being collected from motorists who wish to use the Connector Road. Currently, only Section 1 which spans between Caloocan and Espana is open, with Section being targeted to open within the 4th quarter of the year. How much is the toll, you ask? Read on.
NLEX-SLEX Connector toll fees for Class 1 to Class 3 vehicles
It was sometime this past June that the likelihood of tolls to start being collected for the NLEX-SLEX Connector was announced. According to NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi Bautista, there was an estimated PHP 473,000 daily loss from the free use of the Connector since Section 1 was opened.
The Toll Regulatory Board has approved NLEX Corporation’s request and the new toll fees for specific vehicle classes will be as follows:
Class 1 = PHP 86.00
Class 2 = PHP 215.00
Class 3 = PHP 302.00
Along with this announcement, motorists were also advised to make sure that their RFID accounts are sufficiently loaded to be able to open the electronic barriers at the toll plaza and to go about their merry way.
Section 1, which is the Caloocan-Espana segment runs a length of 5.15 kilometers. The Espana-Sta. Mesa segment, Section 2, will see 7.7 kilometers of expressway once itās opened, and again, that is estimated to be sometime in the 4th quarter of 2023.
“The best things in life are free”, and also, “All good things must come to an end”. Such are the toll-free days of the NLEX-SLEX Connector.
Keep those RFID accounts loaded, folks!
