The Aston Martin Vantage has been one of the legacy models of the brand. In recent years though it has been relegated to being the “Baby Aston”, smaller and generally less powerful than the bigger DB models.
With the current Vantage already quite old, the brand seized the moment to make a worthwhile and sizeable update to the Vantage.
2024 Aston Martin Vantage
Let’s start with the headline which is the massive jump in power. Aston has been sourcing their V8 engines from Mercedes-Benz AMG and the latest fire-breathing iteration whips out an astonishing 656 HP. That power figure is a whole 153 HP more powerful than the older engine, achieved by tweaking the cams, adding boost through bigger turbos, and changing the compression ratio. All this power generates a lot of heat, and in anticipation, new coolers have been added for the oil and coolant.
Taking charge of the shifting all this world moving power is the ever-reliable 8-speed transmission from ZF. The energy is sent to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential. The results of all this power translate to a 0-60 mph sprint time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed north of 200 mph.
Of course, the new Vantage can’t just have all power upgrades, the structure needs to also be able to handle all the extra grunt. It has a revised underfloor for improved torsional rigidity, along with a couple of other improvements to the body rigidity, steering feel, and suspension.
What is interesting is that this is considered an update rather than an all-new model, we can expect some other tweaks apart from the performance. What’s better is that the updated model will be ready for delivery by around the 2nd quarter of this year.
