Foton is known locally more for their commercial vehicle offerings, but it hasn’t stopped them from offering passenger SUV’s and pickups as well. One of its passenger models is the Foton Thunder pickup truck, and luckily it seems their launching a long-overdue updated version.
Based on a teaser photo they posted recently, they will be taking the covers off the 2022 Thunder soon. Despite being partially hidden, it’s clear that the Thunder will get a brand new look.
In other markets, the higher grade Foton Thunder gets LED daytime running lights, stylish alloy wheels, a sports bar on the bed, 4×4 decals, and turn signals on the side mirrors.
Inside the Thunder, the truck gets a simple and modern interior layout. It comes with full-leather seats, red piping accents, faux metal finishes, and even a leather-padded dashboard for good measure. There’s even a touchscreen infotainment system and what seems to be an automatic climate control system.
The Thunder’s now powered by a 2.0-liter Aucan turbo-diesel inline-four that makes 161 PS with 390 Nm of torque. It’s then paired to a six-speed manual transmission and comes in either a 4×2 or 4×4 configuration.
Currently, no official specifications have been confirmed for the local launch, but with MIAS around the corner, we’ll know soon enough.
