Four years after its 2nd generation entered the PH market, the 2024 Honda Brio has broken cover. It may not be an all-new model, but it has received a very nice update both inside and out. With subcompact hatchbacks gaining a following in the Philippines, it’s good to see Honda bring this model in. So what’s in store for us with the 2024 year model?
Exterior and interior updates given to the 2024 Honda Brio
To start things off, the front grill of the Brio has been replaced by a much bigger piece, giving the pint-sized hatchback a bit of an aggressive look. Non-RS variants will get a chrome-accented honeycomb grill, whereas the RS will get the piano black RS Design piece. The front bumper also got a redesign to accommodate the new centerpiece, and overall, gives a sharper and more angular look to the Brio.
Alloy wheel designs will also vary depending on the variant. Non-RS units will get 14″ wheels shod in 175-65 tires, and the RS will have a multi-spoke 185-55-15 set. To keep up with the front, the rear end has also gotten a bit of a redesign on the bumper. Smoked taillight assemblies will also adorn the RS variants’ rear end, making them stand out a little bit more.
Inside we’ll find a change to the upholstery and the dashboard accent pieces as well. Black fabric is still the material of choice, but setting both variants apart is either gray accent stitching or red for the RS. Another nifty feature that found its way into the 2024 Brio is an auto up/down switch for the driver’s side window.
Both variants will get a 7″ infotainment touchscreen, with standard connectivity features available on the non-RS such as Bluetooth and Android Smartphone Mirroring. The RS, though, will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built-in.
Safety comes by way of the Brio’s use of Honda’s GCON Body Structure, making it more rigid and stronger in the event of a collision. It also has 2 front SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
Powering the 2024 Honda Brio across the range is a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine. It puts out 90 HP and 119 Nm of torque, great for city driving, and enough to take on a long highway trip. As for transmission options, the entry-level variant does come with a 5-speed manual, and the 3 other higher grades come with a CVT. One thing we’d like to mention is that the Brio still comes with rear drum brakes. Perhaps expecting rear discs was too much, but maybe we can hope that that’s changed when an all-new model comes, yes, Honda?
The variants and prices of the 2024 Honda Brio are as follows:
- 1.2 S MT = PHP 735,000
- 1.2 V CVT = PHP 827,000
- 1.2 RS CVT = PHP 853,000
- 1.2 RS Black Top CVT = PHP 863,000
Color options are Stellar Diamond Pearl (new color; RS Black Top CVT and RS CVT, + PHP 20,000), Electric Lime Metallic (new color; RS Black Top CVT and V CVT), Phoenix Orange Pearl (RS Black Top CVT), Rallye Red (V CVT), Meteoroid Gray Metallic (RS CVT, V CVT, and S MT), and Taffeta White (V CVT and S MT).
If you’re curious, yes, you can see the 2024 Brio at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall starting today. As an added bonus, the 2024 Honda City is on display alongside as well. So that’s two of Honda PH’s newest models on display; it doesn’t get better than that.
Do you think the following of the Brio will quickly latch on to the 2024-year model? For one thing, it looks really good, and if you look at its pricing, that’s pretty competitive, to say the least. Now to get our hands on a test unit to see how it performs out on the roads to give you a proper review.
