Hyundai PH partners with Don Bosco Institute to create opportunities for disadvantaged youths
Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH), pilots its educational aid and program dedicated to creating opportunities for disadvantaged youth, who are passionate about the future of automotive and mobility. Together with the Don Bosco Institute of Makati (DBIM) and the Department of Education Taguig City and Pateros (DepED TAPAT) school division, “Hyundai Accelerate” officially went underway through an official agreement signing ceremony last Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

“At Hyundai Motor, we have a strong commitment to give back to society. This is rooted in our brand vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ wherein we believe that mobility is more than going from one place to another, rather connecting people with quality time and enabling them to get more out of life. Which led us to us forming ‘Hyundai Accelerate’,” says Mr. Dongwook Lee, HMPH President. “It is our grassroots scholarship program dedicated to providing Filipino senior high school graduates an opportunity for further studies. This project is a special one, as it not only cultivates teaching moments but more importantly, uplifts the lives of our future mentees. Let alone, our first major CSR ad hoc as HMPH. So, we look forward to meeting our first batch of scholars and becoming a part of their journey”.
The Don Bosco Institute of Makati, established in 1954, is one of the country’s prestigious, all-boys private schools with curriculums for Elementary, Junior High School, Senior High School, and Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The latter offers specialized courses that prepare graduates for a career as an automobile mechanic, general electrician, fitter machinist, refrigeration and air-conditioning mechanic, or industrial electronics. Its campus located at Chino Roces Avenue in Makati City, will serve as the training grounds and camp for HMPH’s pioneering group of students.
For this year, HMPH will be enrolling 40 (forty) qualified individuals from the National Capital Region (NCR), under the said school’s automotive string. The first 10 (ten) will be nominated by DepEd TAPAT, and the rest shall be screened and endorsed by the local government units of Pasig (15, fifteen) and Quezon (15, fifteen) cities.
Hyundai Accelerate is intended to support the access of Filipino youth to quality technical education and turn them into holistic professionals. At the same time, it serves as a reflection of the brand’s strengthened commitment as an aftersales provider. The scholars will undergo an 8-month classroom-based and practical lesson combined with a 4-month OJT at their nearest Hyundai service center. There shall also be quarterly and mid-term progress reports to assess the competency and commitment level for possible employment with HMPH’s dealer partners.
